Meet on Herb
Elliott Ave, nearest the intersection of Olympic Boulevard, behind
Homebush Bay Visitors Centre.
Our ride
begins along the roadside of Olympic Boulevard and down to the developing
Tennis Centre, along Shirley Strickland Ave to the Hockey Centre then to
the State Sports Centre to strop off and visit the Sports Hall of Fame.
Crossing Sarah Durack Avenue we veer left into Shane Gould Avenue to
circumnavigate the Warm Up Arena and dash off to the Athletic Centre.
From here we
will pedal stroke by the Aquatic Centre inspecting the increased seating
arrangements and quality of the facilities. Once again on Olympic
Boulevard we will follow the marathon course to Stadium Australia, passing
the paparazzi at the Media Centre. East along Edwin Flack Avenue then west
along Dawn Fraser and left onto Olympic Boulevard coasting along by Sydney
Superdome then right to Kevin Combes Avenue to climb Kronos Hill to get
the best visual vantage and a rest.
If time
permits we will cycle down Old Hill Link, onto Hill Road, across Haslams
Creek and along the Olypmic Village and back onto Hill Road, left onto
Pondage Link and then up to Kronos Hill. From Kronos Hill discussion will
take place on History of the site, both European, Aboriginal and current
developments. Guides will carry binoculars.
