Day
1 and 2
Melbourne to the Flinders Ranges
From Melbourne we travel to Adelaide and stay the night. The next
day sees us visiting the Flinders National Park with astonishing
wildlife a flora.
Day 3
Flinders Ranges to Coober Peedy
Coober Peedy is on of the best known outback towns, where opal
mines are still operational. We spend the night in an underground
dug-out here and venture on the next day to Ayres Rock
Days 4 & 5
Into the Northern Territory we hit Australias red centre and Ayres
Rock.Sunsets,sunrise and the olgas are all part of this leg.
Day 6
Ayres Rock to Kings canyon
On to Kings Canyon we explore the magnificent scenery by foot. The
rock formations of the lost city, the garden of Eden and the Amphitheatre
are a sight not be missed.
Day 7 & 8
Kings Canyon to Alice Springs
In Alice we expolre the McDonnell Ranges, stanley chasm and
Simpsons Gap. There are optional hot air balloon rides and a
regular events scene to enjoy while in Alice.
Day 9 & 10
Katherine via Tennant Creek
Crossing the tropic of Capricorn we come across the Ancient
Aboriginal sacred site of the Devils Marbles. After over nighting
in an old gold mining town, we continue to one of Australia oldest
pubs - Daly Waters. Here we enjoy an icy cold beer before continuing
on to Katherine
Day 11
Katherine Gorge
Today is Nitmiluk National park where we have the options of either
canoe or take a river cruise through the majestic Katherine Gorge. The afternoons
is free to explore the historic town. In the evening, if keen, you can
get out and spotlight some crocodiles.
Day 12
Kakadu National Park
Now we enter crocodile Dundee country. Kakadu encompasses a variety of superb
landscapes, swarms with wildlife and offers some of Australia's
best Aboriginal Rock art.
Day 13 & 14
Batchelor to Darwin
after an early morning croc spotting expedition we
head from Kakadu to Nourlangie Rock and Jabiru's Warrandjan Aboriginal
Cultural Centre. The tour concludes with a visit to Wangi Falls and then
on to Darwin.
