Join
us for part or all of this tour which includes Kangaroo Island, the
Clare and Barossa Valleys, some great restaurants and accommodation
options.
This tour starts
from Adelaide, heading south to take the ferry over to Kangaroo Island,
home of pristine beaches and abundant wildlife. After spending 3 nights
on the island, we make our way over three days and nights to the
Southern Vales wine region and some lovely forest riding.
In the
second week, the
region north of Adelaide is explored. This area of the lower Flinders
Ranges includes the historical heritage town of Burra and the Clare
Valley - including the recently opened Riesling Cycle Trail - with crisp
mornings and pleasant daytime temperatures. We'll visit some small
wineries serving some classic South Australian wines in an area that is
geographically unique in Australia.
Next up we tour
the Barossa Valley which, in addition to being one of Australia's best
known wine regions, is also one of the nicest areas to cycle in South
Australia. Rich in winemaking history and expertise, the Valley also has
an ambience that makes it a true experience..
The Adelaide
Hills is the final region toured. Ride from one village to the next via
seldom used roads, with the occasional glimpse of Adelaide and the coast
in the distance. The trip ends with an exhilarating descent into
Adelaide, where the group indulges in a celebratory dinner .
The trip is rated
easy to medium. Cycling distances will range from around 40 to 80 km per
day. In December there is an option to do either the first or second
weeks only.
