Brisbane is the largest
city in Queensland with an atmosphere as friendly and welcoming as any
Queensland town and quite relaxed when compared to the buzz of inner
city Sydney or Melbourne.
Brisbane
city has many great live band venues, hosting many international and
local events such as LIVID! With the dynamic Performing
Arts Centre and major Art Gallery located in the city centre, you'll
have the chance to view various showcases and exhibitions year round.
Visit a traditional Nepalese Temple or the massive riverside
markets which are held every Sunday. You might even like to treat your
tastebuds to the the delights of Brisbane's Chinatown or Authentic Sushi
Rail!
The airport is located 9km from the city and a cab fare usually costs
around $15. If travelling alone go for the 'skytrans' bus which costs
around $6.50. To give you an idea of how close at hand most of the sites
are to the city hostels, hire a bike for the day (you can pretty much
take them anywhere) and if you love to shop for a bargain with undated
classic style, Brissy has heaps of secondhand and retro stores in areas
like Paddington and there's much to be found at New Farm Markets.
