Coolangatta, Burleigh Heads, Surfers Paradise, Hinterland

Surfers Paradise seems to be the center for shopping and night clubbing. Located 60kms south of Brisbane on a coastal strip of great sandy surfing beaches such as Greenmount, Kirra and Burleigh (a breeding ground of past and future world champions).

The "Goldy" boast a laid back lifestyle, not quite as reclined as Byron but relaxing all the same. Take breakfast to the beach and start the day with a swim in the clear blue sea. It's also nice to start the day off slowly with a hinterland tour to Tambourine Mountain, through rainforest and fruit plantations before heading back for that afternoon Bungy jump to get the adrenaline going for the huge nightlife in Surfers.

Most nightclubs and restaurants offer great deals for travelers. We'd save a few days to check it out. A little further north you'll find Stradbroke Island, where the boat trip alone is not to be missed.
