Launceston is situated on the west side of the Tamar River. The perfect picture of a quaint English village with its Victorian architecture and ferries on the river. There are lots of activities for the adventurous with rockclimbing and whitewater rafting extremely popular here or for something different, cable hang-gliding? There's plenty to see and do and it is the perfect base for travelling throughout the region.
Deloraine in the centre of this region introduces a more relaxed side to Tasmania. Farmlands and rolling hills, snow capped peaks in the distance, sandstone cottages and gentle rivers. Sample delicious cheeses and honey which are exported all over the world.
To the south is Mole Creek Karste National Park where you will see magnificent limestone caves and from here you can easily travel to Liffey Falls.
Visit Asbestos Range National Park where you can enjoy peaceful nature walks and wonderful sea views. This area has great swimming beaches and camping grounds. At dusk, Kangaroos and Tasmanian Devils come down to the grassy areas to feed.
