The natural beauty of this region is not to be missed. Not as well known as many other parts in Western Australia, one could say it's been kept a secret. Remember we spoke a bout the wine regions at Margaret River? Well this is another of those special wine producing regions.

It is also the area that the Southern Right and Humpback whales choose to give birth to their young year after year the beautiful bays. In fact the heart of the great Southern Region is the town of Albany which in earlier days was built on it's whaling foundations. (Thank goodness today it acts only as a museum that can be toured).

Whale watching tours are quite common in these areas, as is great scuba diving and fishing Bremer bay. For National park and rural action this region has some great things to  do like climb the 1,000 metre (2,743 foot) Bluff Knoll in the Stirling Range National Park.
