Adelaide Information
Adelaide is the capital of South Australia, there is great Adelaide entertainment and lots of hostel accommodation in Adelaide with many day trips on offer around Adelaide. Adelaide has many theatres, and an array of museums and galleries, there are some great Adelaide beaches and loads of parks and gardens as the original plan for the city was to completely surround Adelaide with parks.

Grand, gracious, gorgeous Adelaide – a city with hills on one side, beaches on the other and a lot to do in between. Before anything else, pick up your free bike: leave your ID as a deposit and bike plus helmet are yours for eight hours. Head off to the ‘ Cultural Boulevard’ of North Terrace with its long line of free museums, gardens and galleries. Do a bushtucker tour of Botanic Gardens and look out for pandas in the zoo next door (taking up residence in 2009). Make time for long lazy lunches (the quintessential Adelaide experience) at an ‘ Eat Street’; the most famous, Gouger Street, is a super-strip of al fresco eating and home to Central Markets, the 140-year old temple to gourmet goodies.
Take the tram to Glenelg to party by the promenade; this is seaside-made-easy, and full of great eating, top pubs and out-there attractions including Hel-a-va Jet Boata, sunset cruises and swimming with dolphins. Explore the likes of Rundle Street and Hindley Street for vintage shopping, secret cocktail lounges and edgy nightclubs. Adelaide really rocks in February – it’s when the annual Fringe Comedy Festival (second only in size to Edinburgh) takes over the city and the WOMADdelaide world music festival has everyone blissing out for three days in the Botanic Gardens.
