Coffs Harbour

Coffs Harbour is about half way between Brisbane and Sydney and offers the backpacker a large variety of things to do. Getting there is easy with the train’s services stopping here twice a day from either direction. There are a number of bus services as well and for those travelling by car, Coffs Harbour is easy to find with the highway running through town. There are numerous accommodation options from backpacker accommodation to luxury hotels and resorts.

There is plenty to do and you are sure to find some great activities to keep yourself entertained. Coffs Harbour has some beautiful beaches with safe swimming as well as good surfing spots. Fishing is also a popular pastime here. There are good shops which cater for all your needs and of course your wants!

In Coffs as it is affectionately called you can take surfing lessons, go on a kayaking tour, explore some beautiful forest trails whilst on a mountain bike tour or go scuba diving or snorkeling. A great day can be had by going white water rafting on the Nymbodia River. This is great fun and with professional guides you will really get that adrenaline going. Speaking of adrenaline how about a tandem skydive over Coffs. Imagine the thrill of a 50 second free fall as you take in the amazing scenery this area has to offer.

Back on earth, if nature is your thing try the hinterland and spend some time on a guided tour of the nearby national parks. The Dorrigo Plateau is an amazingly beautiful place to see granite cliffs, waterfalls and rainforest with an array of birdlife and native animals. Other tours include a Green outback tour which is for 8 days and takes you into some old forests, some white sandy beaches along the northern NSW coastline. Sub tropical rainforest tours in World heritage listed National Parks are also very popular and a great experience.

There again, lazing on one of Coffs Harbours beaches with a good book or exploring the many galleries and art and craft displays and shops make for a pleasant break in your trip. Of course no trip to Coffs harbor would be complete without a visit to the Big Banana where you can grab a snack, buy a souvenir and have your photo taken with this well known landmark as a back drop.
