Kimberleys
Located in the the State of Western Australia, Australia, The Kimberleys are located in the far north of the state, with the Indian Ocean to the west, the Timor Sea to the North, and the Great Sandy Desert and Tanami Desert to the east. With only a population of just under forty thousand people, the Kimberleys is a staggering three times the size of England.
The Kimberleys, along with Margaret River and the Pinnacles, are one of Western Australia's most favored tourist destinations. Many people come to the Kimberleys to visit areas such as the Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle, Horizontal Falls and Cape Levegue. The very rugged outback terrain also makes it popular with camping and four wheel drive enthusiasts. Those visiting the Kimberleys should be aware that the temperature all year round seldom drops below 30 degrees Celsius, and as such the Kimberleys has a reputation as being one of the hottest regions in Australia. Always remember to bring a hat and sun screen.
Budget travelers and backpackers will find many camp sites. Some charge a token fee for the use of ammentities such as toilets and bathrooms, whereas there are also many free camp sites but the facilities are a very bare minimum. Tours to the Kimberleys can be arranged primarily though the state capital Perth, which is by in large the gateway and starting point for those that want to visit the Kimberleys region.
