The historic capital city of Hobart is alive with the stigma of days long past. Slip on your walking shoes to discover the many historic sites on the heritage walking trail or take to the high seas. Tasmania's homebrew 'Cascade', is produced here in Hobart and is among the worlds best premium beers so don't go past the brewery without sampling a drop.

In the evenings, Hobart comes alive with street performers and artists alike. Restaurants, cafes and bars call everyone in from the cold where you can listen to an Irish Folk Band in front of a log fire or shoot pool in the front bar of one of Australia's oldest pubs and of course with a cascade in hand.

There is much more to Hobart than meets the eye so give yourself a few days at least. If you like cross country bike riding Maria Island is the place. Located 15km off the coast from Spring Beach the entire island is a National Park with plenty of cross country trails. The Tasman Peninsula lies South East of Hobart and the drive is picturesque to say the least. Port Arthur which lies at the very end of the peninsula is a popular tourist destination and from here you can travel by boat to the Isle of the Dead. Visit the Devils Kitchen and blowhole to the south.

Salamanca Market
at Salamanca Place every Saturday.
