Murray Valley Tours

Echuca, Barmah State Forest, Shepparton, The Ranges, Goulburn River

If you prefer a more relaxed day, try finding one of the many stretches of the sandy beaches that are perfect for resting under in the shade of the River Red Gums (big native trees).

About 20,000 years ago the Murray River flowed north of Echuca, along the course of what is today called Green Gully. Barmah State Park in this area offers some fantastic walks. One of the best is probably Gulpa Island. A 16km circuit with River Red Gum forests showing many trees with scars from the days of old when local aboriginal tribes removed sheets of bark to make canoes.

Like much of this state the fertile earth around Shepparton lends itself to fantastic fruit growing orchids and vineyards. This is also the  area that you will find the largest country market at Murrabit, along the Murray Valley Highway (300 stalls in all) This takes place on the  first Saturday of each month.

Did we mention that you can skydive, bush walk, balloon, horse ride, fish and water ski.....and this is just one small part of Victoria. Hope you have some energy.
