Hamilton lies at the base of the Grampians National Park and is quite an historic township – there is a museum an art gallery and an antique shop or two but your foremost reason for visiting this area would not be for the sampling of local devonshire tea.
Cascading waterfalls, rocky mountains and secluded caves all make for a real 'aussie' adventure. You can bush walk and trek through the Grampians National Park which consists of four main ranges. The village of Halls Gap is the preferred location to begin a Grampians adventure and there are a number of accredited climbing operators with tours offering you a variety of adventure activities. With over 50 different walking tracks, we say "on your marks, get set and go..."
Take an Aboriginal Cultural tour to one of the many rock art sites or hand paint your own boomerang. This area holds the largest number of Aboriginal rock art sites in south eastern Australia and Aboriginal Dance performances are held throughout the year. See our events pages for more info.
I can’t believe we haven’t spoken of wine tasting but there are plenty of wineries in this area with great reds and Australia’s very own Great Western Champagne.
