::)I went around Australia working on farms by getting a camper trailer instead of a camper van..I purchased a cheap vehicle to tow it and away I went with the accommodation behind me..there is a guy in Queensland who sells the camper trailers budgeted for backpackers and when I go home I will sell it and get most of my money back (should do)Smile. It's something I thought should be known about to save backpackers money and have a bed everywhere they go there were small fees in some country parks to set it up..it was worth doing that for the experience....that's my story the number of the man is xxxxxxxxxx give it ago...stay safe.love this country:)

Awsome tip Rob and thanks for sharing. Sounds like you got the real Australian experience travelling in your camper.
I've always stayed in hostels myself wherever I've traveled, which is a good way to meet people. But it takes away a bit I find wherever your staying because you end up going to all the touristy sights and activites.
I think my next trip will have to be more 'roughing' it like you did and off the beaten path a bit
