Okay so what would you recommend packing to do a big road trip across Australia? My problem is all of my gadgets - laptop, camera, ipod all of that stuff starts to take up heaps of room. Should I bother with the laptop or rely on internet cafes? Can you even get good wireless on the road?

There is any article in the Sydney Morning Herald today about just this!

I reckon you should take your laptop cause it's great for journals and downloading pics. Don't think you'll get wireless for free in a lot of places but it's still worth it. Just make sure to back it up to disc and never tell people you've got it on you/in your dorm. You'll need to guard it with your life!

All you need to take is a bunch of underwear and at least two pairs of jeans - in case one gets wet. A few t-shirts and socks too and anything else is really not needed. Most places you can buy whatever you need on the road unless you are going way out bush, but once you're out there no one is going to care what you look like!
