One of my favourite pubs in Brisbane is also the purveyor of the best steaks in Brisbane, in my opinion.

The pub is the Breakfast Creek Hotel … if you come to Brissie, it’s a must-do!

The Breakfast Creek Hotel is legendary for its steaks since it opened its ‘Spanish Garden’ steakhouse in 1969.  Once you’ve selected a table to sit at, you go to an open kitchen and select your own steak from a chilled cabinet.  There are all sorts of steak cuts available but my favourite has to be the aged fillet.  The chefs will expertly cook your steak to your taste; in fact they’re probably one of the few pubs whose staff know how to cook a blue steak!  For the non-red-meat eaters there is also a selection of chicken, barramundi and their renowned oysters.  Each meal is served simply, with a baked ‘Idaho’ potato, coleslaw, tomato and a bread roll, and your choice of sauce.

Situated at the confluence of Breakfast Creek and the Brisbane River, this beautiful, old pub is worth the visit just to see the historic value of one of Brisbane’s earlier buildings, the history of which is very interesting and includes a resident ghost!  It is also one of the few pubs left which still uses wooden kegs rather than stainless steel ones, so you can have a beer ‘off the wood’.  The ‘Brekkie Creek’, as it's known colloquially, also looks stunning when lit up after dark, so will add to your holiday photographs nicely. Smile

Does anyone else have a favourite pub in Brisbane?
