As a semi-retired gent living in Cairns, I have been fortunate over the last couple of years to host over 100 wonderful guests from the worldwide couchsurfing community.

It wasn’t until my doctor told me about couchsurfing as a way to meet travellers and establish new friendships that I became involved.  I even renovated my one-bedroom apartment to make room for guests, by getting the smallest car possible (a Smart!) and converting half of my garage into a comfy guest bedroom.

My dilemma is that I now have more friends from all over the world (especially Germany) than I do in Cairns, and I will need to start travelling soon to catch up with them all (fortunately, I can sleep free on their couches, too!).

So, if anyone is visiting Cairns and doesn’t want to stay in backpacker hostels, please contact me here or through couchsurfing dot org.  It would be great to hear from you!

Cheers,
Frank.
