Whatever you do, do not forget your camera when visiting the south eastern parts of Western Australia. The scenery here is almost beyond belief with sheer cliff faces, beautiful national and many historical sites that record the past pioneering spirit that can still be felt here today. Kalgoorlie is the largest centre in the region and is well known its gold production. The scene of a huge gold rush in the 1800’s Kalgoorie is still producing gold today and there are many mines, museums and galleries to visit whilst here. The town is also an important link with travels crossing the Nullarbor. There are many guided tours to take around the town as well as further afield to take in all the area has to offer. There are numerous accommodation options here and restaurants etc are plentiful as are the pubs!
Esperence is a major coastal town in this area and is surrounded by national parks including Cape Arid, Stokes Inlet, Cape Le Grand and Peak Charles. Crystal clear water and white sandy beaches are great to cool off in or enjoy the scenery from the sand. Fishing is great here with many species to be caught. Fish from the beach, rocks or hire a boat. Fishing Charters are also available.
Touring across the south eastern Western Australia you can see whales as they migrate, get close to nature with the many wild animals you may encounter, learn to surf, feed wild giant tuna and you might even see a great White Shark. Preferably from dry land!
Once you leave the larger towns accommodation becomes less easy to find so camping is often your only option. Several service stations across the Nullarbor have motels rooms available for the traveler. Book a tour of the region or explore for yourself, this area is stunningly beautiful with magnificent scenery.
