Czech Republic Backpacking
Prague for a Summer
Prague has become one of the hottest backpacking destinations in Europe. The combination of ice-cold beer, low prices, and incredible scenery bring millions of backpackers into the city each summer.
A lot of people come to Prague for the cheap beer, but stay for the history. Paris and London may get all the press, but Prague (and Czech in general) has some of the most fabulous medieval remnants in Europe. Particularly impressive is Charles Bridge, a gorgeous piece of architecture that has been spanning the Vltava River since the beginning of the 15 th century. Make sure you get there early, though, because this destination will be absolutely packed by 11 AM. It’s also important to keep an eye on your valuables: locals and tourists alike will tell you the Charles Bridge has one of the worst reputations for pickpocketing on the Continent.
At night, it’s time to hit the clubs. Prague boasts the largest nightclub in Eastern Europe (a fact displayed prominently on the side of the club itself!). This five-story behemoth will keep you dancing until the sun comes up. Each floor has a different music scene, so you’re sure to find your groove.
